Food, Farm Groups Ask Obama To Label GMOs

Law360, New York (January 16, 2014, 2:20 PM EST) -- More than 200 food companies, organic farming groups and health and environment organizations on Thursday urged President Barack Obama to require manufacturers to label food products that contain genetically engineered ingredients.

Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., also called for the measure, echoing the letter’s call for the president to fulfill his 2007 pledge to require that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration adopt a national mandatory GMO labeling system.
