Farmers Of Tainted Fruit Say Prison Sentence Is Excessive

Law360, New York (January 16, 2014, 6:33 PM EST) -- Two brothers who pled guilty to charges related to a deadly 2011 listeria outbreak linked to tainted cantaloupes from their farm told a Colorado federal court Tuesday that jail time is unnecessary since they have already done everything they can do to make things right.

In briefs filed with the court, Eric and Ryan Jensen said they were in no need of correctional treatment and had done everything in their power to make up for their unintentional wrongdoing, including filing for bankruptcy to free up funds...
