Utah Greenlights Joint Returns For Same-Sex Couples

Law360, New York (January 16, 2014, 5:10 PM EST) -- Married same-sex couples living in Utah will be permitted to file their state income taxes jointly for the 2013 tax year, Utah's tax regulator announced Thursday.

In a notice, the Utah State Tax Commission said same-sex couples who are eligible to file their federal income tax returns also will be allowed to file their state returns jointly. The notice applies only to the 2013 tax year.
