Taxpayers Gain Online Access To Past Returns, Treasury Says

Law360, New York (January 17, 2014, 2:02 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced Wednesday that taxpayers now can download and print previously filed federal tax returns online, replacing the previous method of delivering paper copies of returns via U.S. mail.

In a Washington, D.C., speech to potential college students, education software makers and proponents of improved access to higher education, Office of Consumer Policy and U.S. Treasury spokeswoman Katherine Sydor said the new online application requires only simple identifying personal information to allow users to download their tax returns.
