ATC Recruiter Cops Plea In $190M Medicare Fraud

Law360, New York (January 17, 2014, 6:31 PM EST) -- A patient recruiter for mental health company American Therapeutic Corp. has pled guilty to her role in a $190 million Medicare fraud scheme, Florida federal prosecutors announced Friday.

Mayelin Santoyo, 28, pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to receive health care kickbacks. She is one of several defendants ensnared in an investigation into ATC, a now-defunct company that operated partial hospitalization programs, or PHPs, to treat severe mental illness.
