Sanofi Aventis Sues Wockhardt Over Uroxatral Patent

Law360, New York (March 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Sanofi-Aventis has filed suit against Wockhardt Ltd. and its U.S. subsidiary, alleging that the Indian generics maker has infringed the patent for Sanofi prostate treatment Uroxatral.

The pharmaceutical giant filed the suit Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, claiming that Wockhardt's proposal to sell alfuzosin hydrochloride 10-milligram tablets infringed on U.S. Patent Number 6,149,940.

Sanofi and Switzerland's Jagotec AG are the current assignees for the '940 patent, with Sanofi holding an exclusive license to Jagotec's interests in the patent, according the...
