EU To Probe Tax Discrimination Against Mobile Workers

Law360, New York (January 21, 2014, 1:50 PM EST) -- The European Commission is going to investigate tax schemes among its member states and flag nations that discriminate against workers who migrate from country to country, as it ramps up its efforts to protect worker mobility within the union, it said Monday.

The commission says worker mobility is key for increasing growth and employment in Europe, but it contends those goals have been hampered by tax obstacles imposed by workers’ home countries or by their new countries of residence.
