Union Urges Gov't To Block SoftBank, T-Mobile Merger

Law360, New York (January 21, 2014, 6:57 PM EST) -- The Communication Workers of America union on Tuesday criticized SoftBank Corp.'s reported ambitions to acquire T-Mobile USA Inc., when it already owns 80 percent of Sprint Corp., and called for regulators to scupper the deal.

No deal between Sprint and T-Mobile has been announced yet, but The Wall Street Journal reported in December that Sprint was considering making a buyout offer for T-Mobile worth as much as $20 billion. More recently, news reports surfaced that SoftBank had begun direct talks with T-Mobile's parent, Deutsche Telekom....
