Dewey Trustee Sues FedEx To Get Back Payments

Law360, New York (January 21, 2014, 4:37 PM EST) -- The trustee overseeing Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP’s liquidation hit Federal Express Corp. with a lawsuit in New York bankruptcy court Friday, seeking the return of payments the now-defunct law firm had made shortly before entering bankruptcy in May 2012.

Liquidating trustee Alan M. Jacobs' complaint alleges that FedEx accepted transfers worth a total $193,402 from Dewey in the three months before the law firm filed for bankruptcy. Because Dewey was insolvent at the time, the payments should not have been made, and FedEx must return them,...
