Appeals Court Affirms Lower Court's Verdict in Soitec Vs. SiGen Suit

Law360, New York (December 2, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld the verdict against Silicon Genesis Corporation in a patent infringement lawsuit brought by French chip equipment maker Soitec and the French research organization CEA (Atomic Energy Commission), Soitec said Tuesday.

The appeals court agreed with the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts’s verdict that Silicon Genesis infringed a claim of U.S. Patent 5,374,564 564, as well as the award to Soitec of close to US$5 million in damages for the infringement, Soitec said.
