Ex-BP Engineer Wants Judge DQ'd From Criminal Suit

Law360, New York (January 22, 2014, 5:00 PM EST) -- Lawyers for a former BP PLC engineer recently convicted of obstructing a grand jury investigation into the company’s response to the Deepwater Horizon disaster will seek to disqualify the Louisiana federal judge who presided over the jury trial last month, the judge said Tuesday.

In an order filed with the Eastern District of Louisiana, U.S. District Judge Stanwood R. Duval Jr. said he had received correspondence from Kurt Mix’s attorneys saying he should disqualify himself from further proceedings for his lack of impartiality in the case....
