Mo. Lawmakers Try Again To Scrub State's Income Tax

Law360, New York (January 24, 2014, 10:39 PM EST) -- A bill introduced Thursday in Missouri's Senate would submit to voters an imitative to eliminate state income tax in exchange for an expanded sales tax regime.

The proposal being pushed by state Sen. Ed Emery, R-Lamar, seeks a constitutional amendment that would phase out the state income tax by 2018. The bill is the latest from Missouri's GOP that seeks to radically change the way the state generates revenue by eliminating the income tax.
