FTC Wins Antitrust Challenge To St. Luke's Buyout

By David McAfee (January 24, 2014, 4:08 PM EST) -- An Idaho federal judge on Friday found that St. Luke's Health System Ltd.'s acquisition of a nearby independent physician practice violates the Clayton Act and the Idaho Competition Act, permanently enjoining the buy and ordering St. Luke's to fully divest itself of Saltzer Medical Group PA's assets.

The Federal Trade Commission, and a group of other health care providers including St. Alphonsus Health System Inc., filed suit claiming that the St. Luke's acquisition violated antitrust laws.
