Syngenta Dodges Bayer's Suit Over Fungicide Patent

Law360, New York (January 28, 2014, 3:36 PM EST) -- A North Carolina federal judge on Monday dismissed a patent infringement suit alleging that Syngenta Crop Protection LLC's Appear fungicide product had ripped off a patented chemical compound owned by Bayer CropScience Inc.

In a brief order, U.S. District Judge Catherine Eagles approved a stipulated motion to dismiss in light of an agreement between a pair of Bayer business units and Syngenta, bringing the case to a quick close just two weeks after Syngenta denied infringement allegations and demanded a jury trial.
