Lawmakers Press High Court On Contraception Mandate

Law360, New York (January 28, 2014, 7:09 PM EST) -- Republican and Democratic lawmakers filed opposing briefs Tuesday in a U.S. Supreme Court case challenging the Affordable Care Act's provision requiring employer medical plans to include contraception coverage, an issue that has divided the lower courts as well as Congress.

The court will hear the case in March and will determine if the contraception mandate violates the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and the constitutional rights of Christian crafts chain Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. and Mennonite-owned cabinet maker Conestoga Wood Specialties Corp., as they have claimed....
