USPTO To Stop Mailings, Adopt Web-Based System

Law360 (December 2, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office will stop mailing out copies of patents and patent applications in the near future, moving to a web-based system except for international applications, the agency said Monday.

The USPTO will provide access to patent references via its private Patent Application Information Retrieval (PAIR) system, which allows downloading of patents and applications.
