Sen. Brown Stumps For Wider Tax Credits For Individuals

Law360, New York (January 29, 2014, 6:29 PM EST) -- Immediately following President Barack Obama’s vocal support of tax reform in Tuesday’s State of the Union speech, Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, called on Congress to pass the Working Families Tax Relief Act of 2013, which would expand eligibility for tax credits focused on individuals. 

The legislation, now co-signed by 33 members of Congress, specifically targets the Earned Income Tax Credit, among other tax laws, increases the EITC refund percentage, and broadens the tax credit’s reach to more individuals and families.
