Pa. Appeals Court Axes Scranton's Police, Fire Pension Deals

Law360, New York (January 29, 2014, 5:49 PM EST) -- The Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court on Wednesday issued a pair of related rulings finding that pension plans the city of Scranton reached with its police and fire unions through an arbitrator in 2008 and 2009 improperly allowed retirement payments to exceed 50 percent of workers' salaries.
