IRS Must Revisit ACA Fraud Search Routines, Watchdog Says

Law360, New York (January 29, 2014, 5:57 PM EST) -- The Internal Revenue Service needs to review computer routines it uses to flag potentially fraudulent Affordable Care Act credits that are claimed by tax-exempt organizations, says a report released Wednesday by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration.

The agency's fraud review system is currently working well, but the agency doesn't review its computer routines to determine if they should be changed or if additional routines are needed, and it doesn't have a post-refund compliance strategy in place, according to the report.
