GC Pay Down, But Legal Depts. May Be Hiring

Law360, Los Angeles (January 30, 2014, 4:40 PM EST) -- General counsel base pay dropped 1.6 percent from last year, but the attorneys in those positions are generally satisfied with their jobs and are creating new positions in-house in 2014, according to the results of a survey released Thursday by the Association of Corporate Counsel.

Average base pay for chief legal officers fell to $247,000 a year from $251,000 the year prior, according to a survey of some 1,200 chief legal officers in 41 countries, the ACC reported. But 85 percent said they were happy in...
