FDA Unveils Proposed Safety Rules For Transported Foods

Law360, New York (January 31, 2014, 8:10 PM EST) -- Companies transporting food distributed or consumed in the U.S. would have to ensure that it does not get contaminated while being shipped, according to a proposal Friday by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The proposed rule, which is the seventh and final major rule under the Food Safety Modernization Act, would apply to shippers and carriers who transport food that will be distributed in the U.S. and include certain international shippers, according to the FDA's statement Friday.
