IRS Touts Digital Presence As Tax Filing Season Starts

Law360, New York (January 31, 2014, 5:13 PM EST) -- The Internal Revenue Service said Friday that more than four out of five tax returns are now filed electronically, as the agency ushered in the start of the 2014 tax season by highlighting the growth of its Web-based tax tools. 

Taxpayers have until April 15 to file their 2013 tax returns and pay any outstanding taxes to avoid potential penalties. The IRS said it expects to receive more than 148 million — with the vast majority of those being filed electronically.
