No Reform Stone Left Unturned

Law360 (March 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Patent reform is the hot topic being discussed in law firms and board rooms across the country.

Debate has been heated in congressional hearings, floor votes, and behind closed-door meetings.

A variety of special interest groups are heavily lobbying for changes to the way patents will be prosecuted, challenged, enforced, and valued in the future.

Yet although this debate seems to reach most elements of the national patent system, the existing ex parte re-examination mechanism seems to have flown beneath the patent reform radar.
