Court Nixes Police, Firefighter Disability Suit

Law360 (March 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Wisconsin state appellate court ruled on Monday that about 100 Milwaukee police officers and firefighters could not sue the city for unpaid disability benefits, upholding a lower court's decision that the lawsuit was precluded by two earlier decisions.

The case, originally filed last year, arose from two earlier employment cases brought by Milwaukee police officers and firefighters against the city — Rehrauer v. City of Milwaukee and DeBraska v. City of Milwaukee — over whether the city could change their disability benefits without their consent....
