RJ Reynolds Hit With $5M Verdict For Smoker's Death

Law360, Miami (February 4, 2014, 6:40 PM EST) -- A Florida jury on Friday said R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. should pay the two children of a smoker who died of lung cancer $5 million for being partially at fault for her death.

A jury in Broward County, Fla., said Willie Cheeley and Iola Cheeley are due $2 million in punitive damages for the loss of their mother Georgia Cheeley, who died in January 1997 at the age of 57 from lung cancer.
