Rockefeller Wants Data Brokers To Disclose Clients

Law360, Chicago (February 4, 2014, 6:26 PM EST) -- Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., has demanded information from several data brokers on the industry’s controversial practice of collecting data on consumers based on their financial woes or health status, including the names of clients to whom the companies are selling such data, he said Monday.

Following through on concerns he voiced at a Dec. 18 Senate committee hearing, Rockefeller has sent letters to six data brokers — including Acxiom Corp. and Experian PLC — seeking information to further his long-running investigation into the industry.
