Widowed Asbestos Claimant Can't Shield Claim Forms

Law360, New York (February 4, 2014, 7:37 PM EST) -- A Rhode Island judge ordered a widow blaming asbestos-tainted products for her husband’s death to turn over the claim forms she filed with various asbestos bankruptcy trusts, ruling Thursday that the documents were neither protected work product nor shielded by confidentiality.

Providence County Superior Court Judge P.J. Gibney granted Crane Co.’s discovery request for claim forms filed by plaintiff Rosie Sweredoski that the company says could undercut allegations regarding her late husband’s asbestos exposure history.
