Planned Ore. Floating Offshore Wind Farm Gets DOI Backing

Law360, New York (February 5, 2014, 9:45 PM EST) -- Federal offshore regulators on Wednesday gave the green light for wind developer Principle Power Inc. to submit a proposal for a 30-megawatt pilot wind farm off the Oregon coast, the first proposed offshore wind project in federal waters off the U.S. West Coast.

Seattle-based Principle is looking to locate its project in a 15-square-mile lease area off of Coos Bay, Ore. The project would employ five floating wind turbines, a first for planned offshore wind projects in federal waters.
