EU Takes Step Toward VAT Talks With Russia, Norway

Law360, New York (February 6, 2014, 1:51 PM EST) -- The European Commission said Thursday it has launched the process to start negotiations with Russia and Norway in an effort to form agreements on how to battle cross-border value-added tax fraud.

The commission says the goal would be to form administrative cooperation agreements to establish a framework of mutual assistance in combating VAT fraud and helping each country recover the VAT that it is due.
