$2B Diageo-USL Merger Could Harm Competition, UK Says

Law360, New York (February 7, 2014, 2:16 PM EST) -- The U.K. antitrust watchdog spelled out concerns with Diageo PLC’s £1.3 billion ($2.1 billion) takeover of India-based United Spirits Ltd., owner of Scotch whisky maker Whyte & Mackay, in a 53-page report released Thursday, saying the deal could have a significant anti-competitive effect on the blended Scotch whisky market.
