Barclays Data Breach Could Affect Thousands

Law360, New York (February 10, 2014, 4:49 PM EST) -- Barclays PLC is investigating a data breach that may have compromised thousands of financial planning clients’ personal information, and has contacted the U.K. data protection watchdog, it said Monday.

The financial giant said its initial investigations suggested the breach was isolated to customers linked to the Barclays Financial Planning business, which was closed to new customers in 2011. Based on the investigation so far, the company said the breach appeared to affect data from 2008 or earlier.
