New ACA Tweaks Let Consumers Alter Marketplace Plans

Law360, New York (February 10, 2014, 7:34 PM EST) -- The Obama administration is creating fresh leeway for consumers to tweak health policies purchased through the Affordable Care Act’s online marketplaces, hoping to address anger over technical glitches and narrow networks, according to a memo released Friday.

Under the new approach, shoppers who bought and paid for coverage would be allowed in some situations to switch to a different policy sold by the insurance company. The original and new policies would have to fall in the same benefits tier, such as bronze or silver, and switches...
