Scrushy Bullied UBS To Join Bribery Scheme, Says Aide

Law360 (January 24, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy threatened to fire the company’s investment banking firm if it did not agree to donate $250,000 to a lottery campaign championed by Alabama’s then-governor Don Siegelman, an ex-Health South executive told a grand jury.

The testimony surfaced in court papers filed earlier this week, which were unsealed in connection to the government corruption case the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Alabama is currently pursuing against Scrushy, Siegelman and two other members of Siegelman’s cabinet.
