CFTC, EU Agree To Ease Regs In Swaps Market

Law360, Los Angeles (February 12, 2014, 5:59 PM EST) -- The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission said Wednesday it has struck an agreement with the executive branch of the European Union to relieve overseas trading from U.S. regulations in the swaps market.

The move lifts U.S. laws from trades and electronic platforms in Europe, and goes counter to what former CFTC head Gary Gensler recommended.
