Tyco Suffers Again As Court Upholds $64.5M Judgment

Law360, New York (January 25, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has upheld a $64.5 million patent infringement judgment against the surgical unit of Tyco International, marking the second blow delivered to the industrial conglomerate in as many days.

Tyco’s U.S. Surgical Corp. was seeking to overturn a September 2004 district court ruling, in which a federal jury awarded Applied Medical Resources $43.5 million for willful patent infringement over devices used to perform laparascopic surgery.
