Judiciary Restores Private Federal Defense Attys' Pay

Law360, New York (February 13, 2014, 6:08 PM EST) -- The pay for court-appointed private attorneys representing indigent defendants in federal criminal cases is going back up, after the U.S. judiciary restored pay to the levels that were in place before last year’s drastic cuts, the Judicial Conference said Thursday.

At a Monday meeting, the Executive Committee of the Judicial Conference of the United States adopted a financial plan for the 2014 fiscal year that effective March 1, 2014, will restore the hourly pay rates for attorneys, according to a statement from the Judicial Conference....
