Medisca Recalls L-Citrulline Lots Amid FDA Warning

Law360, New York (February 14, 2014, 6:30 PM EST) -- Pharmacy compounder Medisca Inc. has recalled certain batches of L-citrulline, a chemical used to treat disorders including urea cycle problems and rare genetic problems in children, after federal regulators said they received reports of adverse events, the company said Friday. 

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Friday that the affected lots may contain a low concentration of L-citrulline, which could lead to high ammonia levels, a potentially life-threatening condition in patients with urea cycle disorders, according to the agency.
