Senate Moves To Stem Piracy With Digital Television

Law360, New York (January 25, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Concern over piracy of digital television content is causing a stir on Capital Hill, where the U.S. Senate has joined the House of Representatives in an effort to pen preventative legislation as the technology becomes more widespread.

A draft version of the Senate bill has been penned by Senator Gordon Smith (R-Ore.), which would authorize the Federal Communications Commission to require “digital broadcast flag” technology to stem piracy.
