Baker’s Move Into Myanmar Will Clear Path For More Firms

Law360, New York (February 18, 2014, 10:32 PM EST) -- Baker & McKenzie’s announcement Tuesday that it’s launching a new office in Myanmar shows confidence in the future of a country that only a few years ago was governed by a military dictatorship and clears the way for other law firms to follow suit, legal experts say.

The new office in Yangon, Myanmar, will be led by Chris Hughes, an infrastructure and corporate attorney from Baker’s Sydney office, and marks the firm’s 75th office worldwide, as well as its 16th in the Asia-Pacific region.
