ACA Subsidies Backed By Health Groups, Dems In DC Circ.

Law360, Washington (February 18, 2014, 5:35 PM EST) -- Several health care associations and Democratic lawmakers lodged amicus briefs with the D.C. Circuit on Monday, urging the appellate court to uphold an Internal Revenue Service rule expanding health insurance subsidies and related penalties under the Affordable Care Act.

The AARP, American Hospital Association, America's Health Insurance Plans, and the state and federal lawmakers all maintained that subsidy program is a vital component of the ACA and Congress always intended to make those subsidies available to individuals participating in either state or federally operated insurance exchanges....
