Fla. Lawmaker Asks For Federal Help With Water Flow

Law360, Miami (February 18, 2014, 8:18 PM EST) -- A Florida state senator on Tuesday asked the state's federal congressional delegation to push for legislation that would remove the Army Corps of Engineers' sole jurisdiction of releases from Lake Okeechobee, which sends polluted water into local estuaries.

In a letter to Florida's congressional delegation, Sen. Joe Negron, R-Stuart, asked for help in getting the Florida Department of Environmental Protection authority over regulatory releases from the lake in certain circumstances.
