Stryker Pays $172M For German Surgical Device Co.

Law360, New York (February 18, 2014, 7:21 PM EST) -- Medical device giant Stryker Corp. said Tuesday that it is snapping up German surgical equipment maker Berchtold Holding AG in a $172 million deal, adding to several notable buys recently.

Michigan-based Stryker said the price tag reflects the acquisition’s enterprise value. A spokesman declined to provide a specific breakdown of the financial terms.

Privately held Berchtold, which also has a location in South Carolina, supplies hospitals with operating room booms, surgery tables, lighting and cameras, among other things. The company, which was founded 90 years ago,...
