General Counsel Turnover Highest In 13 Years

Law360, Los Angeles (February 20, 2014, 5:50 PM EST) -- Roughly 10 percent of large U.S. companies named new general counsels between the start of 2013 and 2014, leading to the largest chief legal officer turnover in at least 13 years, according to BTI Consulting Group's upcoming Benchmarking Corporate Counsel Management Strategies report.

According to in-depth interviews with 240 corporate counsels from 236 organizations completed in December, many of the new general counsels are shaking up the role of their legal departments in areas including intellectual property, regulation, and mergers and acquisitions, BTI said.
