High Court Won't Hear Ariz. Appeal Of Abortion Funds Ruling

Law360, Los Angeles (February 24, 2014, 4:11 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday refused Arizona officials' attempt to revive a law denying funding to providers who perform elective abortions, declining to review a Ninth Circuit ruling that states can't block Planned Parenthood Arizona Inc. from providing preventative health services.

The high court, without comment, denied the state's request for certiorari over the Ninth Circuit's August ruling that the 2012 law at issue violates the Medicaid Act's free-choice-of-provider requirement.
