Dozens Of Medical Groups Urge Delay On Electronic Records

Law360, New York (February 24, 2014, 2:26 PM EST) -- A nationwide switch to electronic health records from paper charts is in danger of failing because of overly ambitious deadlines and excessively rigid rules, 48 of the country’s largest health care groups said in a letter released Monday.

The letter to Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, went so far as to say patient safety could be jeopardized — a notable escalation of rhetoric by trade groups that have repeatedly complained about being forced to go digital too quickly....
