Aussie Watchdog Offers Advice On Looming Privacy Changes

Law360, New York (February 24, 2014, 7:48 PM EST) -- The Australian information commissioner on Friday released highly anticipated guidance and vowed to soon launch a privacy policy assessment tool in an effort to help companies comply with sweeping changes to the country's privacy law that will take effect next month.

Beginning March 12, a single set of privacy principles — called the Australian Privacy Principles — will apply to both Australian government agencies and the private sector, as part of a Privacy Act reform package passed by the Parliament in November 2012 that brought together...
