No TPP Deal Yet For US, Japan As Sens. Demand Ag Reforms

Law360, New York (February 24, 2014, 7:15 PM EST) -- The U.S. and Japan reportedly ended the third day of the most recent round of Trans-Pacific Partnership ministerial talks Monday without reaching an agreement, while a bipartisan group of senators urged the U.S. not to close TPP negotiations unless Japan agrees to drop protection for certain agricultural products.

U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman said Monday after meeting with Japan’s chief negotiator, Akira Amari, that gaps still remain between Washington, D.C., and Tokyo, according to a report by Chinese newspaper the Global Times.
