IRS Chief, GOP Butt Heads Over Funding, Political Activity

Law360, New York (February 26, 2014, 1:56 PM EST) -- Congressional activity — and inactivity — has contributed to the budgeting woes at the Internal Revenue Service, the agency's head told a legislative committee Wednesday, but lawmakers said they were hesitant to restore funding until the IRS addresses a few problems of its own.

Testifying before the Republican-controlled House Appropriations subcommittee on financial services and general government, IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said the government will miss out on billions of dollars in revenues that could be recovered if his agency had a larger budget for enforcement....
