Ore. Becomes 2nd State To Pass Anti-Patent Troll Law

Law360, New York (February 26, 2014, 2:06 PM EST) -- Oregon has become the second state to enact legislation aimed at driving away so-called patent trolls by officially making it a crime to allege patent infringement in bad faith, the state's attorney general announced Tuesday.

Senate Bill 1540 makes it a violation of the state's Unlawful Trade Practices Act to send a letter demanding that someone license a patent without identifying the patent or explaining why the recipient infringes, and it makes it illegal to demand payment of a patent licensing fee within an "unreasonably short"...
