DOE Mulls New Efficiency Tests For Storage Tanks, Heaters

Law360, New York (February 26, 2014, 4:52 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Energy on Wednesday launched a rulemaking process to amend testing procedures for commercial water heaters and storage tanks, proposing alternative methods for determining energy efficiency levels.

Publishing a request for information, the DOE said it is considering proposed test procedure amendments and is seeking public comment on potential changes that would update the industry test method, set new conditions for commercial water heater testing and establish standards for unfired hot water storage tanks and commercial heat pump water heaters.
